We are so excited to be taking a team to explore some of the most unique places in the nation of Bolivia. This adventure will take our team to the world’s highest navigable lake, Lake Titicaca as well as the stunning Uyuni Salt Flats. This trip is designed to have minimal (optional) hiking, but it does spend significant time at high elevation (~12,500ft) at both Titicaca and Uyuni, which should not be underestimated.
This adventure begins and finishes in La Paz, Bolivia. Team members need to arrive in La Paz on March 13th, and plan to depart La Paz on March 20th. Most departing flights from La Paz are scheduled very early in the morning (~3AM), and arrive back in the States on the same day. We are happy to help you arrange your travel.

Trek Difficulty: Moderate
There is optional hiking on Isla del Sol in Lake Titicaca, but other than that, the only real difficulty of this trip is the elevation. The entire trip will be spent above 11,000ft, which can cause light headaches and some nausea until your bodies are acclimatized. If your schedule permits, we recommend flying into La Paz a day or two early to begin the acclimatization process. Even a day or two in Denver on your way to Bolivia could be helpful.
Itinerary:
Day 0/1 (Mar 12/13)
Depart the USA, arrive at La Paz, and settle into our team hotel. La Paz is located at almost at nearly 12,000ft, making it one of the highest cities in the world. It is not uncommon for people to struggle with headaches and have difficulty sleeping the first day or two at this elevation. Upon arrival we will do some light walking around the city to help us begin to acclimatize to the elevation.

Day 2 (Mar 14)
We will depart our hotel in the morning for an overnight stay at Lake Titicaca. Lake Titicaca is the a very unique place. In addition to being the highest navigable lake in the world, it is considered to be the birthplace of the Incas and it is home to numerous ruins. We will take a ferry out to Isla del Sol where we will do a bit of light (optional) hiking and exploring Inca ruins before staying the night in a hostel on the island.

Day 3 (Mar 15)
We will have a relaxing morning on Lake Titicaca before traveling by bus back to La Paz for a restaurant dinner and another night in our team hotel.
Day 4 (Mar 16)
We will be on an early morning domestic flight to the town of Uyumi to begin our three day adventure exploring the salt flats. We will visit the train cemetery, fish island, and take some pretty wild pictures before checking into a hotel made entirely of salt.

Day 5 (Mar 17)
Today we will travel through the Andean desert, visiting colorful lagoons filled with flamingos, the Sol de Mañana geyser, and the Dali Desert. We will spend the night in a lodge in the desert.
Day 6 (Mar 18)
Today we will visit the Polques Hot Springs, Laguna Verde, and return to Uyuni where we will check into our team hotel.

Day 7 (Mar 19)
We will fly back to La Paz in the morning and spend the afternoon sightseeing in the city and souvenir shopping. We will spend the early evening in our team hotel until we head to the airport. Typical flights depart La Paz around 3AM.
Day 8 (Mar 20)
Travel back to the States.
