We are so excited to be returning to one of our favorite regions of the USA, the high Sierras. This action-packed 5 day trip will start/finish in Reno, NV and will visit three incredible locations–Sequoia National Park, Yosemite National Park, and Lake Tahoe. The capstone experience of this adventure will be a challenging 11 mile round-trip hike to the top of Yosemite Point.
Dates: June 6-10, 2024
The trip will start/finish at Reno airport. Team members are responsible for arranging their own transport to and from Reno. Team members need to arrange their flights to arrive in Reno before 12:00PM PST on June 6th and should plan to depart in the morning of June 10th.
Cost: $1,450
- A non-refundable $400 deposit is required at the time of registration to secure your spot on the team. Please read our Trip Cancellation and Refund policy before registering for your adventure.
- $1,450 is due before April 15th, 2025.
- *We will work with all team members to arrange a payment schedule.
What is included:
- 4 nights of accommodation in an Airbnb (One night near Fresno, CA, two nights in Groveland, CA, and one night in Reno, NV)
- 4 lunches and 4 dinners. Lunches will be something like fast food (Ex. Chipotle, In n Out, Panda Express, etc.) and dinners will be in nice local restaurants.
- All transportation to and from Reno airport.
- National park entry fees in Yosemite and Sequoiah National Parks
What is NOT included:
- You are required to bring your own day pack and trekking gear (rain shell, clothing layers for cold weather, etc.). It is far more likely to be too hot than too cold, but come prepared with appropriate layers for most conditions.
- You are responsible for your own breakfast each day and all trekking snacks (we will stop at a grocery store on Day 1 to stock up for breakfasts and any last minute snacks).
Trek Difficulty: Moderately Difficult
There is a lot of car travel on this adventure, but the only real difficulty is the climb to Yosemite Point. This is a very strenuous 11 mile round trip climb with more than 4,000ft of elevation gain. We expect this hike to take around 8 hours. Though it is a difficult hike, the views are simply unmatched anywhere in the United States. We suggest all team members devote themselves to a season of physical training that should include a mix of smaller training hikes, strength work, and significant cardiovascular exercise.
Itinerary:
Day 1 (June 6)
Team members will arrive in Reno before 12:00PM. We will grab a quick lunch in Reno before hitting the road. We will be staying in an Airbnb near Fresno, CA on Day 1, and the drive from Reno will take us around 5 hours. After we get settled into our Airbnb, we will go out for a nice dinner and spend some time getting to know each other.
Day 2 (June 7)
After an early breakfast (~6:30AM), we will make the 1.5 hour drive to Sequoia National Park where we will be doing a 3 mile hike on the Congress Trail among the giant redwood trees, including the General Sherman tree, the world’s largest living tree. We will set aside a couple of hours for devotional time in the forrest before beginning our 4 hour journey to Groveland, CA where we will be spending the next two nights. We will grab lunch near the beginning of our journey and dinner in Groveland.
Day 3 (June 8)
We will be up very early on Day 3 to make our way into Yosemite National Park to take on one of the most iconic hikes in America, Yosemite Point. This is a very challenging 11 mile round trip hike with more than 4,000ft of vertical climbing. Though there are no technical portions on this hike, it will be a very long and strenuous day. That said, the views from the top of Yosemite Point are simply unbelievable. We will be eating sandwiches for lunch on this day at the midpoint of our hike, and after we descend, we will enjoy an early dinner in the Yosemite Lodge before making our way back to our Airbnb in Groveland.
Day 4 (June 9)
We will sleep in a bit on Day 4 before beginning our 3 hour journey to Lake Tahoe. We should arrive at South Lake around mid-day for lunch. After lunch we will head to Sand Harbor to spend a few hours on the beach at Lake Tahoe. The water in Tahoe will be very cold in early June, but it will feel incredible on sore muscles after Day 3’s climb to Yosemite Point. After our time at the beach we will drive an hour back to Reno where we will check in to our final Airbnb before going out for one last celebratory dinner.
Day 5 (June 10)
Team members will begin their flights home on the morning of Day 5. Please do not schedule any flights before 9:00AM PST.
