We are so excited to be partnering with Project Doxa to bring a team to serve alongside two of our incredible missionary partners in the countries of Zambia and Uganda. The team will spend the first week doing kids ministry in Livingstone Zambia and the surrounding villages with Butch and Janet Berner, founders of Light of Africa. We have been working with Light of Africa for twenty years and we are so excited to be bringing another team to work with them. After their week in Zambia, the team will fly to Entebbe Uganda and then drive to the city of Masaka where they will spend a week doing evangelism and discipleship with our great friends Tim and Jill Way, founders of Sent Network.
This will be an absolutely incredible ministry adventure. In addition to the powerful ministry opportunities, the team will also experience the unparalleled natural beauty of one of the world’s truly special regions. The team will walk with lions (yes, you read that right), enjoy a safari on the Chobe River in Botswana, and spend a morning at the majestic Victoria Falls. The Chobe River is one of the single best places in the world to view wildlife. We will encounter hippos, crocs, giraffe, and perhaps as many as one hundred elephants at a time. As well, brave team members will have the chance to bungee jump at Victoria Falls.
***This trip is open to anyone, but we are offering a special 10% discount for ORU Missions alumni. If you have ever served on an ORU Missions trip, you will receive a $440 discount off of the final cost of your trip.***
Dates: June 14-29, 2025
Trip dates include flights from the USA. Since we have people coming from so many different locations and since we have somewhat limited flight options within Africa, we are only accommodating three start/finish locations for this trip–Chicago, New York, and Washington DC. Team members will need to arrange travel to one of these locations on the evening of June 13th. We will be departing the USA on the morning of June 14th. We will arrive back in the States on June 29th. It is possible (likely even) that we will arrive back in the States early enough for team members to fly back to their homes on the evening of June 29th, but we recommend arranging return flights on the morning of June 30th.
Cost: $4,400
- A non-refundable $550 deposit is required at the time of registration to secure your spot on the team.
- $2,200 is due before January 1st, 2025 (First 50% is due early to lock in plane tickets)
- $3,300 is due before March 1st, 2025

- We will set up a Project Doxa fundraising page for each team member. You can see a sample of the fundraising page we will set up for each team member here.
- ***We are offering a 10% discount to all ORU Missions alumni. If you have ever served on an ORU Missions trip, you will receive $440 off of your trip cost. Your due dates and payment schedule will all be the same as above, except your final amount due on May 1st is $3,960.***

Difficulty: Minimal
The only real challenge on this adventure is the rigors of jet lag and the length of the travel to Africa, which will take nearly two days both ways.
ITINERARY:
Day 0 (June 13)
Team members will travel to their departure city and check into their hotel (not included).
Day 1 (June 14)
Teams will depart the States on the morning of June 14th.
Day 2 (June 15)
Team members will arrive in Zambia, and get settled in at the missions base in Livingstone.
Day 3-5 (June 16, 17, & 18)
The team will conduct a vacation Bible school for kids in Livingstone. We will have much more detail as the trip approaches, but you can expect full days of games, crafts, Bible lessons, and fun with a couple hundred Zambian children.
Day 6 (June 19)
The team will travel to Botswana for a full day safari on the Chobe River (included in the trip cost). This will be a very long, but incredibly rewarding day that you will never forget. The concentration of the wildlife on the Chobe is truly unparalleled. After the safari, we will return to Livingstone for a great dinner in town.
Day 7 (June 20)
We will begin the day before sunrise with our Walk with Lions adventure where we will walk among and pet some adolescent lions. This sounds crazy (mostly because it is), but it is an incredible experience and you are certain to leave with a few photos all of your friends will say must be photoshopped. After our time with the lions, we will make our way to the truly magnificent Victoria Falls. Be prepared to get wet…you will get fully soaked by the spray as you stand opposite the falls. Those who would like to bungee jump from the bridge will have an opportunity to do that (~$125, not included), and we will finish the day with some souvenir shopping and a nice dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 8 (June 21)
This is our travel day between Zambia and Uganda. Expect a pretty lengthy day of travel that will finish in a hotel in Entebbe, Uganda.
Day 9 (June 22)
The team will travel (approximately 4 hours) by car from Entebbe to Masaka, which will be our home base during our time in Uganda. We will have a bit of orientation, but otherwise a very relaxed day.
Day 10-14 (June 23, 24, 25, 26, & 27)
We will be doing evangelism and discipleship work alongside the Way family in Masaka. Stay tuned…we will have more details about this section of the itinerary very soon.
Day 15 (June 28)
We will begin our travel home from Entebbe back to the States.
Day 16 (June 29)
We will arrive back in the States. We will know as we get closer to the trip whether or not we will arrive back in time to fly out to our home airports on the evening of the 29th. Most of the team will be flying out on the morning of the 30th (hotel on the night of the 29th is not included).
